To all Members and Chambering Pupils of the Penang Bar,

New Regulations for Lawyers meeting prisoners in the Penang Prison

This is to inform you that the Jabatan Penjara Malaysia has informed the Committee via their letter dated 11-05-2006 of their ‘Peraturan Perjumpaan Peguam Dengan Banduan di Penjara Pulau Pinang’ which is effective immediately.

The letter informing us of the new Regulations is enclosed here for members’ attention.

The Criminal Law sub-Committee will be taking up this matter with the prison authorities to seek clarification.
